7. Which are the leading countries in wind energy?

The ten countries with the largest installed wind power, in 2016, measured in Gigawats (GW) are: China 168.7; United States 82.2; Germany 50.0; India 28.7; Spain 23.1; United Kingdom 14.5; France 12.1; Canada 11.9; Brazil 10.7 and Italy 9.2. Already by the end of 2011 there were around 200 thousand wind turbines distributed around the world that generated about 238 GW of energy.
