6. What is the proposed date for the start of the Anthropocene?

Regarding your start date there are several positions. In the 19th century, the term Anthropozoic was used by Antonio Stoppani, referring to the Quaternary, started 2.6 million years ago, since the appearance of Homo habilis, the first Homo, initiator of the Paleolithic or stone age, considering it to be a geological period strongly marked by the activity of humans.

Some groups propose that the change of eras was set in 1850, at the height of the Industrial Revolution. Others move it to the end of the Second World War, specifically to 1950, after which the so-called “great acceleration” began, a strong boost to the economy and the consumption of mass products.
