5. Does the Anthropocene mean an involution of our species?

Human progress has been immense, especially in science, social science and technology. But in other fields we are stuck, and we have even backed off. The population in general has little interest in matters such as ecology or care of the environment. Those responsible for the hostile deforestation of the forests, the slaughter of animals, the compulsive searches for oil and gas fields or new methods of extracting fossil fuels, consciously or unconsciously, are pushing back the up till now successful Homo sapiens march. They are symptoms of the Anthropocene

We are facing a dangerous process that may end in the extinction of our species. We are the last survivors of the genus Homo. All other species have been extinguished before. At least 20 or 30 of them have stick around on the road. Maybe we are not the exception. Our continuity is not guaranteed and there is no “B” plan.
